Hi Andrew,
Sorry to take this long to respond to your mail. We were working on some bug fixes and update release related with YouTube custom Live Event.
Yes it is possible. All your Chat Comments is saved by default on our server.
We have updated the website with info for how to use UnifiedChat for YouTube custom Live Event.
Check out the URL https://unifiedchat.com/#explore-website-points
Also we have highlighted the point that default YouTube live chat is not persistent. Using our chat will give you persistent storage of all the data. As long as You have the share link you used during broadcast you can access chat history along with recorded video any time. Let me know if something still feels unclear. I would suggest try out a test live event with the steps mentioned in above URL.
Thanks
Azhar

Is it possible to save the chat comments to the recording of the YouTube Live event so that they are seen by people watching the video after the live recording? If so- how?

So the comments are saved - but on their servers and not on the YT video.
Thanks

Well that's a good feature. I agree with Chad that it's not ideal to have to sign in to get to the chat, but if they can do something about the email addresses displaying that might be a good alternative, at least temporarily.
